Website Terms of Use

DRAFT — Carroll Law is finalising this page. The version below is provisional and pending legal review. For any specific concern today, email office@carrolllaw.eu.

Effective date: 6 November 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Carroll Law website (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to them. They cover website usage only — the terms that govern an actual legal engagement are in our Engagement Letter and Terms and Conditions, which you receive before any work begins.

1. Who we are

The Site is operated by Carroll Law, a sole-practice law firm established in Portugal; principal Colin Carroll, registered with the Ordem dos Advogados (Portuguese Bar), cédula n.º 90162L.

2. Information on the Site is general, not legal advice

Material on the Site is general information, not legal advice; every matter depends on its facts. A lawyer–client relationship is established only after we accept your matter, you sign our Engagement Letter, and any required anti-money-laundering identification is completed.

The estimators on the Site are automated and give a general indication only. Some of the Site's content is prepared with the help of AI tools, under the firm's supervision (see How we use AI).

3. Third-party links

Where the Site links to external websites, we do not control them and are not responsible for their content or availability.

4. Intellectual property

All content is the property of Carroll Law or used with permission. You may view, download and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use; any other use requires our written consent.

5. Privacy and cookies

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Carroll Law is not liable for loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site. Nothing limits liability that cannot be excluded by Portuguese law.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law, with the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lisbon.

If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection the law of the country where you live gives you.

Wherever you are

Tell us what’s happened — and we’ll tell you exactly what it takes, and exactly what it costs.

No obligation, and nothing to pay to find out where you stand. A lawyer reads every enquiry personally and replies, usually within one working day. And don’t worry if you don’t have all the paperwork or details yet — most people don’t at this stage. Tell us what you know, and we’ll help you find the rest.
