Don’t take our word for it — check the registers

When an estate matters to your family, it matters who is actually handling it. We are one accountable lawyer on six public registers, in six countries — with a standing local team around him in each. Every register can be checked, by anyone, in about a minute — here is where.

The precise position

Colin Carroll qualified as a solicitor in Ireland (2007) and in England & Wales (2010), and remains on the Roll of Solicitors in both. His Irish admission — Solicitor, Law Society of Ireland — is his professional home title; in England & Wales he is a solicitor practising overseas only.

Colin is registered with, answerable to, and insured under the rules of four bars: the Ordem dos Advogados (cédula n.º 90162L), the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Málaga (colegiado UE n.º 171), the Ordine degli Avvocati di Imperia (n.º 658) and the Barreau de Nice — subject to the full professional, deontological and disciplinary rules of each, with professional-indemnity insurance in each country of practice. Each registration was granted by that country’s own bar, under EU law (Directive 98/5/EC), and appears on its public register — which is why every entry on this page can be checked at source.

The firm is non-contentious: it administers estates and gives written, signed opinions; it does not litigate.

Carroll Law is not an SRA-authorised firm and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or by the Law Society of Ireland. The practice is regulated by the four host bars listed above. The English admission (SRA n.º 533035, overseas only) is relevant in particular to our Certificate-of-English-Law work.

One lawyer — and the team around him

Carroll Law is deliberately the practice of one accountable lawyer — and deliberately not a one-man effort. In each of our four countries the firm works with its own standing team: established local professionals who attend the registries, notaries and bank counters under our power of attorney; partner notarial offices; sworn translators; and, where an estate reaches home, the client’s own solicitor, whom we brief and coordinate. Each is regulated in their own field, in their own country.

The team extends our reach; it never dilutes the accountability. Every step is directed from one desk, every piece of advice is signed by one name, and if anything on your file needs answering for, you know exactly whose door to knock on — and on which six registers to find him. Meet Colin →

Wherever you are

Tell us what’s happened — and we’ll tell you exactly what it takes, and exactly what it costs.

No obligation, and nothing to pay to find out where you stand. A lawyer reads every enquiry personally and replies, usually within one working day. And don’t worry if you don’t have all the paperwork or details yet — most people don’t at this stage. Tell us what you know, and we’ll help you find the rest.
